Info Pages -- About Ikine

Personality

Ikine personality ranges just like human emotions. A lot of this is based on their alignment, but one must take into consideration their primary element. Usually fire will be tough and seem uncaring (which isn't always the case, but they tend to put out a tough disposition). Conversely, an element based on water is much more caring and willing to help out others readily, even if they don’t particularly want to.

Alignment

Alignment is the guiding force of how you should play your character. The GM tries to write out a good description of your character’s history before it is given to you, but of course you need to elaborate on this since you will only be given very general information. Your job is to give it a personality; the way it talks and fights is very crucial to making a good role-playing character.

Diet

Ikine are omnivores, but mainly carnivores. Living in Berrik, there is a wide range of deer, cows, birds, rodents and other meat forms (of course depending on which region you are in) that the ikine would like to eat. Of course being omnivores, they also enjoy the occasional fruit found on many trees and bushes.

Elements (or Types)

All types are based off of a mother element. The main four are earth, air, fire and water and are broken down into subtypes. Other mother elements are light, dark rock and etc. Combination elements, such as ice and lava, are a mix between mother elements and are referred to as more “uncommon” even if is seems there are just as many of these combination elements as mother elements. Many of the elements described are of the mortal domain, so of course the types of mother and combination elements will vary by domain.

Ikine are related to the Rhul animal the isaero. They are cousins and are related in the way their "elements" work. Ikine exist off the main essences of the land they live in. For example, humans use to live in Berrik and a Season ikine could possibly take on the season of Christmas. This was only because Christmas was celebrated in the lands. Once the humans left, no Christmas ikine were born.

Abilities

All ikine are born with their element’s basic abilities (sometimes cubs are gifted or come from royal bloodlines and are blessed with high skills at an earlier age). These abilities can be used both inside and outside of fights. These abilities are specific to each element and have specific incantations to follow through. As an example, a wind’s Drift ability will help them in battle with speed and dodging, but a wind can also use this ability to transport itself or someone else to another area of Berrik.

Skills

Unlike abilities, just fighting will not learn more skills. Most of the time, skills are handed out to those who complete quests or meet a god/dess along one of their travels or somehow get into an RP with them. Realize that posting a thread just to meet with a god/dess will not get you a new skill. Most of the time, the god/dess will conceal his/her identity to the other player.

Growth

There are three basic stages of growths for ikine, the infant, cub, and adult. The infant ikine are rarely adopted out to others and are closely watched by their mothers. Cubs on the other hand are strong enough to go out and hunt small prey on their own. Adults of course have all the basic abilities to defend and hunt without help.
